Nov 15...Today I'm thankful for...

wine and bubble baths, especially after a day like today! Now it's bedtime...a long time ago, actually, but now I'll go.

Nov 14 - Today I'm thankful for...

at least getting home from work, with what I thought was an OK battery after stopping at Advance Auto Parts. Now, if only I knew I was going to make it TO work in the morning! Isn't looking good since car won't start right now.

Nov 12...Today I'm thankful...

for my little cuddle kitty, Sasha! She's just so darn cute and such a goofy kitty sometimes, but I love it when she wants to just curl up and cuddle! While she drives me insane from time to time, especially when I'm on the computer and she decides she has to be on my stomach or arms, I can't imagine life without her...don't know what I'll do when that day comes! I love you Sasha-May!

Nov 11...Today I am thankful for...

all of our Veterans!

As this Veterans Day comes to a close, I have been thinking about the last couple of days and the things I have seen. I've decided that, while there are always going to be those who do all they can to get away with things and take advantage of the goodness of others, I have to just focus on those who make all of the nastiness worth while. Unfortunately, I have seen far too much of the nastiness, but a few of our amazing guests in the last couple of days have shown me why it is that we do what we do! Those who are truly humbled and appreciative are the ones who we really do this for...and I owe them a huge debt of gratitude for all they've done for my freedoms and liberties. They have given so much of themselves and expect nothing in return and I can only hope to uphold those same standards and actions and always show the same graciousness that they do. God Bless the U.S.A!!!

I'll leave you with this - one of my favorites...

It is the Soldier, not the minister, who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the Soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the Soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to protest.
It is the Soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the Soldier, not the politician, who has given us the right to vote.
It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Nov 10...Today I'm thankful for...

my values and integrity that I have been raised with and have tried to improve upon all my life.

When I witness people who obviously don't fully understand either of those...or who choose to disregard them altogether, and do things that are not very honest or take complete advantage of something or someone that is being offered to them, I am offended. I'm especially offended when it is a fellow Veteran who is doing something that makes the rest of us look bad. This year there are many, many restaurants and businesses doing great things for our Veterans and providing free or discounted meals or services. While most of us aren't looking for a handout and are EXTREMELY appreciative of these generous offers, there are those who will do everything they can to milk it for all it's worth and take advantage of the kindness of others. This is absolutely appalling to me! I know that karma exists and pray that they get what they deserve, but in the mean time, I pray that they come to understand what it is really all about...that they realize that the world isn't out to get them, but instead start saying thank you and appreciating all that our fellow countrymen and women want to do for us!

God Bless you all,

Nov 9...Today I'm thankful for...

the way that sometimes, even when I think it's been a horrible day, something happens to make me remember that it's really not that bad. I know it could always be worse and I'm a pretty lucky girl, but sometimes I get a little selfish and forget for a while. I'm thankful that there are reminders along the way!

Nov 8...Today I'm thankful for...

people with the courage to stand up for those who need someone in their corner...regardless of the circumstances. Whether it is something big or something small, from time to time, everyone need someone in their corner supporting them!

Nov 7...Today I'm thankful for...

my beautiful niece, Baylee. She has brought such joy and happiness to my life and I can no longer imagine her not being a part of it. I am so proud of the wonderful young lady that she is becoming and can't wait to see what kind of a woman she becomes! I love you more than anything in the world, Baylee! No matter how old you get, you'll always be my lil' angel girl! All my love, always! Aunt Jenny...

Nov 6...Today I'm thankful for...

all of the leaders I had throughout my Army career. Both good and bad, they all taught me something. I've realized since retiring, that even those "bad" leaders, more than likely are heads and shoulders above some of the "leaders" that I will encounter for the rest of my life as a civilian. I guess it's just a different world, but it sure makes you appreciate some of the things you never thought you would! Don't get me wrong, I've also met some good leaders. I just find them very few and far between in my experiences, post Army. So, for those of you who are still in and think the grass is always greener on the other side...just remember it might not be. Appreciate what you have and learn from each leader you encounter...just know whether it's a trait you want in yourself or one you'd rather not possess.

God Bless you all,

Nov 5...Today I'm thankful for...

Nov 5 - Following along with my last post, I am thankful that AMC brought us the talents of Josh Duhamel and that I am able to continue watching him grow as an actor and follow along on his incredible career!

Just realized that FB was the only place I put this yesterday. I recently upgraded my Netflix to include streaming and I watched SAFE HAVEN yesterday!!! Awesome movie and an even better book by Nicholas Sparks!

God Bless you all,

Nov 4...Today I'm thankful for...

my diverse group of friends. Some of them have things in common, but are also very different, with differing opinions. That's what I love about them...and we still all get along! :-) Even when we might disagree about something, we are friends. It's good to have that comfort level.

God Bless you all,

Nov 3...Today I'm thankful for

the ability to communicate with people who are far away. Whether it's the internet or telephone, I am so thankful that I can still reach out to those who are not here in San Antonio with me!

Nov 2...Today I'm thankful for...

the days that I can sleep in, at least until Sasha decides it's time for breakfast, and relax while attempting to recover from a long day at work. It's nice to not have to set an alarm sometimes and wake up early. It really can be the simple things!

God Bless you all!

Happy November!!! 30 Days of Thankful!!!

Once again, MONTHS have gone by with no new post...so, I'll try again with my annual 30 days of Thankful.

For the last few years, I've committed to doing this. I find myself even more in need of the reminders this year, so I'm really hoping it sets me off on the right path!

Nov 1 - First and foremost, I am thankful to God for the many blessings I do have in my life. I am not always good at really thanking Him for what He has given me, but He is the one who makes it all possible.

God Bless you all,
Jenny-May
